My 2 I/2 month anniversary with NHP, still miss all my CTC friends

20:52
Fantastic - looking forward to hear from the team :)

30:33
Kits delivered today! Hurray!

34:53
FSRI mentioned that they have delivered 20,000 Be Safe kits for people in RI!

35:15
Amazing! Great work!!!

37:02
Good job!

37:13
This is an incredible effort in a 5-month period - great job!

41:02
Deb Garneau, RI DOH. This is so exciting! I love using the HEZ infrastructure to address the health needs of individuals in the community. Awesome!

41:26
Thanks Deb!

47:35
Project also allowed us to see first hand who to connect with, strengths, and institutional values.

48:32
I am sorry I thought it fixed my audio yesterday but it is still not working

49:26
The Interagency Food and Nutrition Policy Advisory Council & Hunger Elimination Task Force may be an good resource for the Food Bank efforts in Pawtucket and Central Falls

49:49
Thank you, Nancy. I will look into that.

50:01
Oh thank you Nancy - is there a person you recommend we contact?

51:14
Erin Bertoldi at RIDOH would be a good start. We can get her contact information to you

51:17
I will look into it, Brady, on the team behalf

51:32
Awesome...

51:35
Jamie, your contribution to the team has been invaluable! Thank you for your willingness to speak about your experience!

52:53
Jamie, your reflection (both what you said and what you wrote) of both what you needed to do but also your concern about the healthiness of the meals and food offered by the food bank, your observations that it is your ability to afford healthy food and transportation that are your biggest needs, is very helpful.

54:21
Tammy's multi-generational reflection is such an asset to this work!

55:05
My apologies to all. I thought this meeting started at 10am!

55:31
No worries, Denisse, but we missed you :-)

57:19
:)

01:01:45
So wonderful to see such great work being done to assure quality of foods being made available from food banks!

01:04:20
Fantastic work and progress in such a tight timeline! Thank you!

01:05:40
We also have connections to the ADA, and they have an arm called the Food Hub. I can see if we can make a connection there, as well.

01:06:29
While I was researching, I saw many food delivery services that catered to vegetarians, vegans, low carb meals, etc

01:07:40
Many places to point out how impressive the work of this team is! Notable is how they were able to form relationships so quickly with food banks to actually get real food to real people in such a short time!

01:08:29
Thanks Soma ---it would be so cool -- if we could figure that out!

01:08:33
Johnson & Wales and URI may be good connections as wel

01:09:17
Thank you, Caroline!

01:09:40
They both have nutrition programs, and of course focus on prep of healthy foods

01:09:43
Great to engage the URI students!!

01:12:03
Although it was no surprise that food was an issue to address, it's been really exciting to see the overlap which grew organically between the two teams. Looking forward to seeing the partnerships grow!

01:12:52
Thank you, Soma. Can these resources be added to the change package?

01:13:16
Is either team looking at working on an area outside of food security in 2021?

01:13:16
Of course, Randi! Will do.

01:13:43
Thank you

01:14:27
I can also ask Erin at RIDOH about state guide lines for healthy foods

01:14:29
Excellent point from Tufts (sorry I cannot see your name) - we have >400 Certified Diabetes Outpatient Educators (CDOE) in RI that provide extensive education on diabetes management - including improving diet

01:20:37
Not sure if East Bay team has reached out to the MLK Center in Newport yet to learn about their relationship with and fruit and vegetable donations from the Jamestown Community Farm.

01:20:50
Thank you, Jamie, for being a part of the solution.

01:20:53
I agree. I learned about so many people & resources I didn't even know where available in EBCAP.

01:21:49
Nancy- the CDOE's in our office are AMAZING. Experts

01:21:55
Incredibly valuable

01:23:15
Jamie, Thank you for sharing and being such an important member of the team. Your perspective is a BIG part of success!

01:25:18
Nancy, I don't think we have reached out to the MLK center but such a good idea. Will reach out to them to learn more from them

01:26:37
Thanks for your patience as it loads :)

01:30:05
I think it will be important to keep consistent communication going between partners. It is also important to be able to show how valuable a project like this is to the leadership teams that control it. Aka I need my boss to be okay with me spending time working on this :)

01:30:34
Aside from this project, EP HEZ had already identified access to healthier food as a goal in its Action Plan. That will reinforce sustainability of this specific project,

01:32:12
Shared funding and staffing on projects across depts. helps to meaningful integration and sustainability

01:32:30
helps to promote

01:33:08
To Caroline's point, the top down and bottom up support are both crucial.

01:35:14
Senior leadership commitment is critical particularly when existing resources are stretched.

01:35:41
Also it's like a 1.5-mile walk from the clinic we're targeting in this pilot to the EBCAP office, so it really does make sense to talk to each other :-)

01:36:04
And also in supporting the philosophy that integration is the work, it's not an extra

01:36:39
I like that a lot, Rita. Integration is the work.

01:36:40
The Compass Assessment Tool includes component of leadership and stewardship, and we can measure change through the Compass

01:43:02
Both teams showed improvement in only 5 months! Great work. Imagine where you can be this time next year!

01:57:54
Terrific point.

01:58:08
Thank you, Jamie.

01:58:41
Prevention is the true innovation

01:58:49
Yes

02:01:38
This is such a great perspective and reminder of the challenges for so many living in the community.

02:01:53
Thank you Jamie!

02:02:06
It sure is!

02:04:10
Thank you for your perspective, Jamie.

02:04:17
I didn't have the opportunity to let our partners know about the Rhode to Wellness Challenge and World Diabetes Day which is also supportive of those with diabetes and prediabetes. You can contact me for more information about these initiatives.

02:05:29
thanks so very much to everyone.

02:05:37
Thank you Jamie! Jamie Douglas <jamiedouglas52@yahoo.com>

02:08:22
Randi.belhumeur@health.ri.gov

02:08:26
As Jamie was talking--and thank you Jamie, that was enormously helpful--I was thinking that we're not necessarily speaking the same language. Many of us on the call speak the language of healthcare, public health and health insurance--and, I think deeply care about how those things intersect with life in the real world, I don't mean to say we're aloof. And people with lived experience are speaking the language of what's working and what's not, what this is really like day-to-day--and may not speak those technical languages, which isn't to say they can't or don't care. The work that needs to be supported in this kind of engagement is translation and coordination. That's labor we don't always see or pay for. For example, the daughter of our PLE representative sits off camera and translates our conversations to Spanish for her mother. That kind of work is the work, and needs to be recognized and paid for if we are serious about equity.

02:09:34
thank you, Brady.

02:09:38
Well said, Brady

02:09:40
Well said Brady!

02:10:26
Thank you.

02:10:40
my microphone not working. Thank you folks! how to build this into the work is important

02:10:44
Thank you!!

02:10:54
Thank you all!!!

02:11:03
Amazing work. Looking forward to our next steps together.

02:11:04
Yes, thank you everyone

02:11:20
Very well said! Thank you so much everyone :) Sorry I didn't get a chance to collaborate in the presentation with my PCF team.

02:11:26
Thank you for the opportunity to be part of this

02:11:31
Thanks so much to All
